SPRINGFIELD, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A woman is lucky to be alive after a gunman opened her front door in Calhoun County and began shooting.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the first block of Limit Street near Michigan Avenue in Springfield, near Battle Creek.
Calhoun County Sheriff deputies say the caller stated that the victim, a 45-year-old woman, had been shot in the chest during the incident. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries and later released.
Deputies as well as Battle Creek Police and Michigan State Police quickly developed leads, identified possible suspects, and arrested an 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from Battle Creek, on charges not related to the shooting.
An investigation is still underway.
