KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Residents in a southeast Kalamazoo neighborhood are under a boil water advisory as crews work to connect a new water main.
The City of Kalamazoo announced on Monday that construction on East Cork Street connecting the new main to an existing one on Lincolnshire Boulevard has resulted in a temporary loss of pressure, prompting the precautionary advisory.
As of now the advisory is expected to be lifted within 72 hours, on April 23rd.
Affected residents include those living in the following areas:

Lincolnshire Boulevard – From East Cork Street (northern boundary) to Winton Avenue (southern boundary), both sides of the street.

East Cork Street – From Konkle Street (eastern boundary) approximately 1,880 feet west (western boundary), both sides of the street. It does NOT include the following: the northeast corner of East Cork Street and Whittier Drive, the northeast corner of East Cork Street and Lowell Street, the northeast corner of East Cork Street and Fulford Street, the southeast corner of East Cork Street and Moreland Street, the northeast and northwest corners of East Cork Street and Morgan Street, and the northeast corner of East Cork Street and Cameron Street. It also does NOT include Madeira Apartments located at 1610 East Cork Street.
- Winton Avenue – From Moreland Street (western boundary) to Lincolnshire Boulevard (east boundary), both sides of the street. It does NOT include the northeast and southeast corners of Winton Avenue and Moreland Street.
City officials say that the advisory is a precautionary measure, and that there have not been any confirmed tests showing bacteria in the affected water main.
The advisory was issued in cooperation with the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department.
Tap water may continue to be used for drinking and ingesting after being boiled for at least two minutes, and water can continue to be used for personal hygiene activities without precautionary action.
