KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Administrators with the Kalamazoo Public School district are expanding their Chromebook loaning program to make sure all students are equipped with the technology they need for the remote learning program.
Back in March, hundreds of refurbished Chromebooks were donated to KPS, but they were first offered to senior high school students in need on a first come first served basis. Then earlier this week school officials announced that they would be loaning laptops to all high school students who still need the proper technology.
Now, starting Friday, April 24, KPS will begin loaning Chromebooks to elementary and middle school students.

According to the district, sites will adhere to all social distancing guidelines during the distribution process. Chromebooks are only being loaned and must be returned in the same condition.
When picking up, students should bring their ID and a pen to sign a waiver at the site in order to receive the loaned device. Parents can also pick up devices without their student present, as long as they have the student’s ID.
