KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A precautionary boil water advisory is in place for a number of homeowners in Kalamazoo’s Milwood Neighborhood.
Kalamazoo city officials announced on Tuesday that they are working with MDOT and Kamminga & Roodvoets, Inc. to connect a new water main on East Cork Street to the existing water mains on Harvard Street, Cameron Street, Morgan Street, Moreland Street, Lowell Street, and Whittier Drive. This prompted the precautionary advisory.
Those affected by the boil water advisory include:
- East Cork Street (Section 1) – Includes the following: the northeast corner of East Cork Street and Cameron Street and the northeast corner of East Cork Street and Lowell Street.
- East Cork Street (Section 2) – From Whittier Drive to Konkle Street, both sides of street.
- Cambridge Drive – Includes the following: the southwest and southeast corners of Cambridge Drive and Morgan Street and the southwest and southeast corners of Cambridge Drive and Lowell Street.
- Sheridan Drive (Section 1) – Includes the following: the northwest, northeast, and southeast corner of Sheridan Drive and Morgan Street and the northwest, southwest, and southeast corner of Sheridan Drive and Lowell Street.
- Sheridan Drive (Section 2) – From Whittier Drive, east to dead end of Sheridan Drive, north side of street.
- Reycraft Drive – From Harvard Street to Cameron Street, both sides of street.
- Kingston Avenue – Only the northwest corner of Kingston Avenue and Moreland Street.
- Harvard Street – Only the northwest and southwest corner of Harvard Street and Sheridan Drive.
- Cameron Street – From East Cork Street to Sheridan Drive, east side of street.
- Morgan Street – From East Cork Street to Cambridge Drive, both sides of street.
- Lowell Street – From East Cork Street to Cambridge Drive, both sides of street.
- Whittier Drive – From East Cork Street to Cambridge Drive, both sides of street.
The advisory does NOT include:
- The southwest and southeast corners of East Cork Street and Lincolnshire Boulevard.
- The northwest corner of Lowell Street and East Cork Street.
- The northwest corner of Whittier Drive and East Cork Street.
Residents in the affected areas should boil their water for two minutes prior to drinking or use bottled water for the time being.
Once tests are confirmed officials hope to lift the advisory by May 8th.
