PARCHMENT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Another long-summer tradition in Parchment is being canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday organizers announced that the 39th annual Kindleberger Summer Festival of the Performing Arts and the 15th season of the Summer Concert Series at the Stage at Kindleberger will not take place this year.
In a statement on their Facebook page the Kindleberger Arts Commission said, “This decision was not made lightly, made with concern and consideration of the time and effort by our fabulous volunteers to plan our events, economic impact on our vendors, nonprofit groups, and community, and the anticipated disappointment felt by all who look forward to enjoying our summer events. However, we cannot be certain that it will be safe to gather during the 2020 summer months.”
The Commission adds that they still plan to stay involved and engaged with the community through social media and possible virtual events.
They’re also asking the community to get involved. “We’ll ask you to be involved in sharing favorite memories and photos from previous years, and support the Bingo for Designer Bags and other special fundraising events as we look forward to gathering for a grand 2021 celebration, positively unprecedented in its own right!”
Information regarding refunds will come soon for artisans and crafters who have reserved booth space and car enthusiasts who have registered for the show at the festival.
The summer festival was set to take place July 8th through the 12th and features performances, music, food, family activities, a 5K, and more.
