KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Fire Marshall’s Office is looking into the cause of an apartment fire that broke out in the Westnedge Hill Neighborhood over the weekend.
Public Safety officers were called to the 700 block of Garland Circle near Whites Road just before 10 a.m. Sunday and found an apartment building with smoke coming from the attic.
Crews fought the fire from the roof and from the apartment below and other crews were called in to protect valuables in the remaining apartments.
The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. The department is now working with the American Red Cross to locate housing for the families that have displaced as a result of the fire.
