PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Portage has announced a series of movie screenings to be shown in a drive-in theater format starting in June.
Five different movies will be shown at Ramona Park, starting with the Disney film Frozen II on June 12.
Per Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order, social distancing guidelines will be considered as needed. According to city officials, spaces for vehicles are granted as viewers arrive, with spaces towards the back reserved for larger vehicles like trucks.
Viewers will remain in their vehicles during the screening event, but are permitted to sit in their truck beds, if desired. Parking will be in the football fields of Ramona Park.
Officials say that concessions will not be sold at the event, so guests are encouraged to bring their own. However, a food truck rally will be hosted from 5-8 p.m. in the softball fields as part of the Friday at the Flats event series. Officials are reminding citizens to bring a mask to wear when ordering.
Movies are scheduled to start around 9 p.m., depending on when the sun sets.
