KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Foundation For Excellence (FFE) is welcoming two directors to its board as of April 27.
The new additions include Kalamazoo City Commissioner Jeanne Hess, who is now a City Commission Director. Her term will be limited to the same term as her City Commissioner position.
Stephanie Hoffman was also approved as a Housing Sector Representative, a position of which is currently set to end in 2022.
Hoffman serves as the executive director of Open Doors Kalamazoo, which works to combat homeless-related issues in the city.
Hess was appointed to the City Commissioners late last year.
“I’ve always been a team player, and there’s no team I’d rather be on than this one,” Hess said of her appointment.
During the virtual meeting, the board also made the following appointments:
- Charlene Taylor as Affinity Director for a three-year term ending in 2023
- Alisa Carrel as Arts Director for a three-year term ending in 2023
- Adam McFarlin as Business Director for a three-year term ending in 2023
- Alice Taylor as Neighborhood Director, Northside Neighborhood, for a three-year term ending in 2023
“I would really hate to be in a city that faced this crisis without a Foundation For Excellence,” Executive Director of Community Relations for the Kalamazoo Promise Von Washington Jr. said during the meeting. “The work by the city staff and the availability and response time to questions and emergencies has been remarkable. This Foundation is special, and it is an addition to this community that many won’t know anything about. Thank you for your work.”
Other members offered congratulations and excitement at the prospect of these new appointments.
