BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek will soon have two more establishments able to sell recreational marijuana to customers.
Common Citizen has announced that it will begin sales of recreational products to adults 21 years of age and over on Friday, May 22nd.
The company’s Battle Creek location at 1240 East Columbia Avenue was recently approved for an adult-use recreational retail license and plans to continue implementing safety precautions for staff and customers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Marketing in “safe, high-quality cannabis products”, Common Citizen currently operates two other retail locations in Flint and Detroit, with additional stores planned in Lansing, Warren, Hazel Park, and Grand Rapids.
CEO Michael Elias says the company is trying to pay extra attention to new users, creating a more individualized experience for those buying legal pot in the process.
“We offer personalized, one-on-one consultation with our highly educated Citizen Advisors that makes what could be a daunting shopping experience, especially for new cannabis users, seamless,” said Elias.
In response to the pandemic, Common Citizen says that it’s made curbside pickup available and upgraded its website to make ordering from home easier.
The Battle Creek location will continue to offer medical marijuana sales along with recreational products.
In addition, Quality Roots, a cannabis retailer on East Michigan Avenue in Battle Creek, is launching their provisioning center and delivery service covering Battle Creek and surrounding areas with statewide delivery service.
Quality Roots will be open for curbside and delivery of recreational sales on Thursday, May 21st. A grand opening event will then be held June 20th and June 21st with “local restaurants passing out appetizers and promoting their businesses come back from COVID-19,” according to their press announcement. The facility will also be donating 20% of their June weekend sales to food banks throughout Calhoun county.
In early January, Battle Creek Provisioning Center became the first business to sell recreational marijuana after the city commission opted to allow the sales within the community.
