BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police are searching for a man accused of a opening fire at a cookout on Mother’s Day, injuring a teen girl.
26-year-old Kamren Lee Brown has been named a person of interest and could face charges for assault with intent to murder.
The shooting occurred in the 200 block of Lathrop Avenue near Nelson Street shortly after midnight on Sunday, May 10th.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that the 17-year-old girl went to the house for a cookout and saw a car drive past the residence several times before the driver stopped, had a conversation with the cookout host, and then drove off.
When the car returned again the host told everyone to go inside and that’s when the teen girl was shot in the shoulder. She was taken to Bronson Battle Creek in a private vehicle and then transferred to Ascension Borgess in Kalamazoo.
10 to 20 shots were reportedly fired during the incident and several vehicles were struck by gunfire.
