KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — If state restrictions allow, the Kalamazoo Public School district may hold in-person graduation ceremonies later this summer.
On Thursday, May 14th KPS announced that high school graduates would be recognized in a virtual ceremony planned for June.
Since then the district has received “numerous requests” to hold in-person graduation ceremonies later this year, prompting them to plan tentative dates for each high school:
- Phoenix High School: Tuesday, August 4th
- Loy Norrix High School: Wednesday, August 5th
- Kalamazoo Central High School: Thursday, August 6th.
KPS says that the ability to hold graduation ceremonies in August will be dependent on Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s executive orders and safety guidelines.
In a statement, the district mentioned that the time, location, and potential restrictions on the number of guests allowed to attend will be announced at a later date.
