KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Three firearms are off the streets of Kalamazoo after reports of gunshots led to an arrest on the city’s Northside.
Public Safety officers were dispatched to the area of Bessie Street and Princeton Avenue shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday after numerous calls of shots fired. This was the same area where 23-year-old Travontae Brown was shot and killed about a week ago.
While responding, authorities heard additional gunshots in 1700 block of Union Street less than a mile away.
First responders canvassed the area and found several spent bullet casings on a back porch of a residence.
A search warrant was conducted at the home and three firearms were seized. A 33-year-old Kalamazoo resident was taken into custody on several charges related to the incident.
No other details have been released at this time and no injuries were reported.
