KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers are identifying the elderly woman killed in a house fire in the city’s Westnedge Hill Neighborhood last week.
According to MLive, 79-year-old Mary Dobrovir was found deceased inside of a burning home in the 900 block of Essex Circle off of Whites Road around 7 p.m. May 16th.
Despite the growing fire conditions, officers launched a search-and-rescue operation after learning that Dobriovir might still be inside, but it was too late.
KPS’ Fire Marshal Scott Brooks tells MLive that Dobrovir had been living in Kalamazoo for several years and her family in California has been notified.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Authorities do not believe there was any foul play.
