KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Construction work connecting new water main has prompted Kalamazoo officials to issue a boil water advisory for nearby residents.
The advisory is in effect from Friday, May 22nd at 8 a.m. with it expected to be lifted by Monday.
The City of Kalamazoo said in a statement that a construction project on East Cork Street involves connecting to an existing main on Emerald Drive, resulting in a temporary loss of water pressure,
Residents under the boil water advisory include:
- Emerald Drive – From East Cork Street (southern boundary) to Cambridge Drive (northern boundary), both sides of the street. It does NOT include the northwest corner of Emerald Drive and East Cork Street.
- East Cork Street – Only the northeast and southeast corners of East Cork Street and Emerald Drive.
Water customers are encouraged to boil tap water for two minutes before drinking or ingesting, though they are not required to if using for personal hygiene.
