CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — One person is dead and three others are injured after a rollover crash on I-69 in Calhoun County.
It occurred on northbound I-69 near mile marker 39 just after 12 a.m. Sunday.
Calhoun County Sheriff deputies say the pickup truck driver, a 64-year-old Eaton Rapids man, was towing a pickup truck, controlled by a 23-year-old Eaton Rapids man, when a 39-year-old Bellevue woman driving another pickup truck collided into the rear end of the towed truck. The woman was also towing an empty horse trailer.
Both the towing pickup and the towed pickup overturned in the median and a 66-year-old Eaton Rapids man was ejected as the truck rolled. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other people were rushed to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. Two are in serious but stable condition and the third is in stable condition.
The woman in the truck pulling the horse trailer and the three children in the truck were not injured.
No names have been released at this time and the cause of the crash is still unknown, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team is still investigating.
No other details have been released by authorities at this time.
