KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) is reporting that a truck driver is in critical condition after being electrocuted Wednesday.
Around 7:17 a.m., KDPS responded to the 2900 block of Miller Road for a report of a truck driver that had been electrocuted after his truck struck a high-voltage power line.
A coworker of the man witnessed the incident and dragged him away from the power line.
Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers and Life EMS paramedics performed CPR for several minutes in an effort to resuscitate the man, who was not breathing and had no pulse. Using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), they were able to regain a pulse and breathing.
The patient, a 55 year old Kalamazoo man, was transported to Bronson Hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.
