BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Battle Creek Fire Department (BCFD) is reporting that no injuries occurred in a fire at the Post plant Wednesday afternoon.
Around 2:40 p.m., crews were dispatched to the plant at 275 Cliff Street for a report of a fifth-floor cereal hopper on fire.
After getting the hopper under control, crews realized that the fire had spread to a penthouse room on the roof, which contained pipes connected to the cereal dryer.
Crews then utilized a standpipe system to combat the remainder of the fire. Following the fire extinguishing, crews say that salvage and overhaul of the affected area was undertaken.
No firefighters or civilians were injured in this incident, which remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
