KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Government facilities within the city of Kalamazoo will open back up to the public but extra safety precautions will be in place.
Places like city hall, the public safety headquarters lobby, public services, and parks and recreation will reopen with limited hours beginning on Monday, June 15th and the limited hours will last through July 24th.
Many departments will also be operating with a reduced staff due to ongoing furloughs and some employees are still working remotely.
Members of the public will be required to wear a face covering when entering a city facility and personal protective equipment will be available to the public if needed.
Despite the reopening, the public is still encouraged to use the City of Kalamazoo’s online services at kalamazoocity.org, contact staff via email, or request service or appointment by calling 3-1-1 or 337-8000 from outside the city limits.
Below are specific hours for each facility:
City Hall:
- Access to City Hall will be through the rear doors only, located on the south side of the building off Lovell Street and only the first floor will be accessible.
- Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Wednesday 12 p.m. – 6 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Community Planning & Economic Development Department:
- Hours: Monday through Thursday by appointment only
Parks and Recreation:
- Hours: Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Public Safety Headquarters – Public Lobby:
- Hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Public Services:
- Hours: Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
