KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers say two children were struck by stray gunfire during a shooting between two vehicles.
It happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of Ogden Avenue near Douglas Avenue near the city’s Northside.
Witnesses reported that shots were fired between two automobiles in the area engaging in a “rolling gun battle,” according to the press release.
When first responders arrived they located two victims, a 5-year-old and a 12-year-old, who were struck during the shooting. Officers say they were not involved and were just playing on the nearby sidewalk when the incident occurred.
One child was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while the second child did not require hospitalization.
At last reported there have been no arrests, but authorities have released information on the possible involved vehicles.
Officers say a black SUV appeared to have dropped off a subject who is then seen shooting at the dark colored sedan. The sedan appears to have two different sets of custom wheels on the front and rear.
