BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB/WNWN/WKZO) – One of the top high school football players in the State of Michigan who was entering his senior year at Battle Creek Central High School is now facing criminal charges.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports 17-year-old Tyshaan Williams was arraigned on Friday in connection with the shooting of a 15-year-old boy on Orchard Place in Battle Creek two weeks ago.
Williams was formally charged with assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
A conviction could lead to a sentence of life in prison.
Bond has been set at $25,000 and a preliminary exam is scheduled for July 20.
Williams has been an outstanding running back and linebacker for Battle Creek Central and received Division One scholarship offers from Army and Central Michigan.
