KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that broke out at a vacant home on the Northside of the city.
Crews were called to the 1000 block of West North Street near Staples Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Saturday and observed smoke coming from a home.
According to the press release, a full fire response was requested and additional officers arrived on scene.
Firefighters say the initial fire attack was hampered by electrical lines that were on fire inside and outside of the home.
Crews had to turn off the electricity to the home before they were able to extinguish the blaze.
KDPS says the fire does not appear to be suspicious but the cause is still not known at this time.
