PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Protestors gathered Saturday in Portage to emphasize the need for racial equality, calling the event “The Day of False Freedom.”
Those involved in the event said that they were demanding charges in the case of Breonna Taylor, who was killed in March, for funding for schools, and for the defunding of police.
Those who participated started at Crossroads Mall and then walked down South Westnedge Avenue, with Portage Public Safety officers following behind.
The Portage protest joined marchers in other cities including Chicago, Ypsilanti, Syracuse, Nashville, and Tampa.
