HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a Fourth of July shooting suspect has been arraigned in court as of Tuesday.
Previously, deputies were called to a home in the 62000 block of 66th Avenue near 62nd Street in Hartford Township around 7 p.m. Saturday where they found a 34-year-old man on a porch suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
He was airlifted to Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo.
The suspect, 37-year-old Estela Morales, is believed to have shot the victim with a 20 gauge shotgun. The victim, whose name is not being released at this time, is still listed in critical condition at Bronson Methodist Hospital and has undergone multiple surgeries since the holiday.
Police add that Morales and the victim were in a domestic relationship.
Tuesday, Morales was arraigned Tuesday in the 7th West District Court of Van Buren County on a charge of Assault with Intent to Commit Murder. Her bond was set at $1,000,000 cash or surety.
The shooting remains under investigation at this time.
