KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The feud continues between some of the members on the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners.
On Friday, former Board Chair Julie Rogers sent cease and desist letters to three members of the Kalamazoo County Commission: Tracy Hall, Michael Seals, and Stephanie Moore.
Hall is the new Board Chair after Rogers stepped down, saying she wanted a smooth transition of leadership when she leaves the board at the end of the year, and to focus on her House campaign. Seals was elected Vice-Chair and Moore is a fellow commissioner also running for same 60th House Seat as Rogers.
The cease and desist letters come after a letter directed to the County Commission, which can be found on this PDF from WOOD-TV, was released by the commissioners claiming inappropriate behavior from Rogers during her time as Board Chair. The claim outlines actions such as being drunk during a social function, criticizing staff at a party, and “trying to go around the Sheriff to declare a State of Emergency during the COVID-19 pandemic, something she did not have the authority to do.”
Rogers fought back, calling the letter a “smear campaign” and stated, “These individuals have been propagating false, unsubstantiated allegations against me which they have now put into writing and disseminated to the commission and to the public… I am disappointed that my opponent in that race and her colleagues on the commission have decided to pursue the politics of personal destruction. Their motives are transparent: To attain position and political office at any cost. Kalamazoo County residents deserve better.”
Hall, Moore, and Seals were advised to publish a retraction within five days or face legal action.
