MASON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that two people were injured in a weekend crash that occurred in Mason Township.
Around 11 p.m. Sunday, police were called for a report of a personal injury crash that happened at the 18900 Block of US 12.
The driver, 19-year-old Dnequo Oshae Slater of Elkhart, IN was driving westbound on US 12 when he lost control of the vehicle due to speed.
As a result, Slater’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a culvert, which caused the vehicle to go airborne.
Slater suffered unspecified injuries in the crash and was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital by Edwardsburg Ambulance.
His passenger, 19-year-old Makayla Renee Mcinnes of Edwardsburg, was also transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.
Police say seatbelts were worn and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
This case remains under investigation at this time.
