BANGOR, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — One man is in jail after breaking into two separate houses over the weekend, the Bangor Police Department announced Tuesday.
30-year-old Lance Peterson is being held on several charges relating to assault and breaking and entering, among others.
It began on Sunday morning when Peterson broke into his stepfather’s Bangor home and assaulted him. His stepfather, Glen Blackston, told WWMT that he was in fear of dying during the assault, but managed to escape to a neighbor’s house to call for help.
Blackston added that he did not know what provoked the attack.
Police say that Peterson later broke into a separate house located in Bangor Charter Township. Upon gaining entry, Peterson slept on the floor of the residence before changing into clothing he found.
Before leaving the property, he left $20 for the owners.
Peterson is currently held at the Van Buren County Jail on a bond of $100,000.
