KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers say a report of a large fight in the city’s Edison Neighborhood turned up several weapons and illegal narcotics during an arrest.
Authorities were dispatched to the 1800 block of Vanzee Street near Reed Avenue on Tuesday where a witness said a subject, who was armed with a pistol during a large fight, entered a vehicle in the roadway but was still present at the scene.
When the vehicle attempted to leave officers conducted a traffic stop a short distance away and found a 28-year-old Kalamazoo resident in possession of a concealed firearm and illegal narcotics.
The suspect was arrested for several weapons and drug violations and booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail.
Additional weapons charges are also being submitted for a 19-year-old passenger inside of the vehicle who was found unlawfully carrying a taser. No other details have been released at this time.
On the same day, another suspect was arrested in a separate handgun incident.
