BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Pavement Maintenance Systems will begin applying chip seal treatments to various city streets Wednesday.
The following streets will be chip sealed, with work taking place from approximately 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Work is expected to finish by July 29, weather permitting.
- Riverside Drive – Beckley Road to Columbia Avenue
- Upton Avenue – Kendall Street to Angell Street
- Union Avenue – Michigan Avenue to Van Buren Street
- Roosevelt Avenue – Goodale Avenue to Garrison Avenue
City officials say chip seal is an effective way to extend the life of street pavement, lasting five to six years. Crews apply liquid asphalt and small stone chips, then roll over it.
The streets will remain open and neighbors will have access to their properties. Traffic regulators will be in place maintaining one-way traffic. Residents should plan for intermittent traffic disruptions, which could cause delays.
All motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and should not park on these streets during work hours, or their vehicles will be towed.
