KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — One person is injured after jumping from a window to escape a house fire on Kalamazoo’s Northside.
Fire officials were called to the 1900 block of Krom Avenue near Herbert Street around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday where they located a vehicle and a home on fire.
Public Safety officers worked to extinguish the blaze; however, intense hoarding conditions slowed their efforts. After 45 minutes, the fire was brought under control.
Authorities say one person, who jumped from the window to escape the flames, was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injures.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
