LAGRANGE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Cass County authorities report that two brothers were electrocuted Saturday afternoon in a boating accident.
Rescue personnel were called to a residence in LaGrange Township at around 1:20 p.m. and found 31-year-old Austin Francis of Kalamazoo and his 19-year brother Lane Francis of Cassopolis had been accidentally electrocuted.
The men were moving a sailboat when the mast struck an overhead power line.
Both victims had CPR and AEDs administered and were taken to a South Bend hospital for treatment.
On Sunday the Cass County Sheriff’s Office gave an update saying that both brothers were transported a hospital in Fort Wayne Indiana and are in stable condition.
The incident remains under investigation.
