KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A parole absconder led authorities on a high-speed chase through two counties before crashing after losing control of his vehicle.
Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Battle Creek police began the pursuit of the suspect and a Calhoun County deputy followed his vehicle down a dead-end road off Beckley Road.
When the deputy got out of his vehicle, the suspect suddenly shifted into reverse and rammed the patrol car and then attempted to run over the deputy.
The suspect then led officers on a high-speed chase into Kalamazoo County, where he lost control of the vehicle on the curve at Mercury Drive and MN Avenue and crashed.
He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment.
The 42-year-old man faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding and felonious assault with a vehicle, in addition to his parole violation.
