KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An investigation is underway after a teen was shot and injured about four hours after another shooting incident in Kalamazoo’s Edison Neighborhood.
First responders were called to the 400 block of Gilbert Avenue near East Michigan Avenue on the city’s Eastside around 2:30 a.m. Monday after a report that a subject had been shot.
When they arrived they found a 17-year-old Kalamazoo resident suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Public Safety officers believe the shooting may have actually occurred in the area of East Stockbridge Avenue and Russell Street, about a half a mile away from another shooting incident that happened near Jackson and Mills Street Sunday night where another 17-year-old was also shot and injured.
There are currently no suspects in either shooting and it’s unclear if the two are connected. The Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incidents.
