BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Battle Creek Fire Department (BCFD) is reporting that a fire took place at The Arbors apartment complex Wednesday morning.
Just before 9 a.m., fire crews were called to the complex at 400 Rambling Road, where a third-floor balcony was on fire at the rear of the structure.
The department says the fire was extinguished quickly, and the extent of the damage was contained to the balcony area.
Crews later determined that the cause of the fire was due to discarded smoking material. The occupant of the apartment suffered first degree burns on his forearms while attempting to put the fire out.
No other injuries were reported in this case.
