GOBLES (WKZO AM/FM) — A Gobles man is in custody after he drove 5 kids while he was intoxicated.
Van Buren County Sheriff deputies were called to Gobles around 5 p.m. Sunday where they found two men openly consuming alcohol as the young children, ages ranging between 2 to 7, played in the park.
The two then left the park with the children and drove about 1/2-mile down the road to a home on 6th Avenue near M-40 where they were seen drinking more.
Officers say the driver was intoxicated and refused all roadside evaluations.
He was later arrested for 5 counts of operating while intoxicated and child endangerment as well as transporting open alcohol containers.
He refused again to provide a breath sample at the jail and was later charged with resisting and obstructing.
His name has not been released.
