KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A two decade long vision for a youth center on the Eastside of Kalamazoo is now reality.
Kalamazoo Youth for Christ and Southwest Michigan First officially opened the new facility on Monday.
The center, located at 2528 East Main, will welcome 20 middle schoolers on Tuesday, with 20 high schoolers later in the week.
According to Scott McCloughan, Executive Director of Youth for Christ, when things return to normal, the center will be able to hold 100 youth, who will have access to food, a computer lab, a basketball court, leisure activities like video games and TV, and also interact with not only their peers, but adult volunteers as well.
The project was put together by Youth For Christ, Southwest Michigan First, several area businesses and churches, and dozens of volunteers.
