KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers are investigating the cause of a house fire in the Milwood Neighborhood.
An officer on patrol smelled smoke in the 2300 block of Portage Street just after 2:30 a.m. Monday and discovered a home with smoke-filled windows.
Fire crews arrived and found flames in the basement that spread to the first floor kitchen area.
The blaze was contained within 20 minutes and nobody was home at the time of the fire.
