KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo murder suspect, a former basketball player who used his athletic skills to clear the tall fences behind the Kalamazoo County Jail, will not contest escape charges.
Judge Paul Bridenstine accepted the guilty plea from Donnavan Lewis in court Thursday.
The 25-year-old was free for about 30-minutes after police flooded the area and tracked him down last September. He will be sentenced in February.
Lewis has much bigger legal problems to worry about. He is charged with killing girlfriend 24-year-old Aniya Mack, stuffing her body in a suitcase and dumping it into a Comstock creek.
Police reportedly have his confession. Lewis told detectives he was angry because she was exchanging sexually provocative e-mail with a local Pastor.
