KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety officers say the extreme cold caused difficulties as they attempted to battle a house fire in the Edison Neighborhood.
Crews were called to a home that was converted into apartments in the 1400 block of Fulford Street near Stockbridge Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and found that the fire hydrants and their hoses were frozen.
It took them several hours to battle the blaze and Metro Transit even brought in buses to give officers a place to warm up.
The home sustained significant damage to the second story and the attic but there were no injuries.
