BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police have arrested a suspect in a gunfight at Sam’s Party Store two weekends ago.
Detectives are now calling that same suspect, a person of interest in last weekend’s drive by shooting that killed 23-year-old Wendell Daniels and wounded two others.
Daniels died behind the wheel of a car that was riddled with bullets on Kendall Street near Dickman Road, just a few blocks from the scene of the Liquor store shooting. Neither of he men were wounded in the earlier incident.
The 31-year-old suspect had been tentatively identified in store surveillance cameras and they were looking for him when he was arrested in Kentwood midweek.
They say they are also looking for another 21-year-old they say is also a person of interest in the Daniel’s murder.
