KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A fire at a Kalamazoo apartment complex Thursday that began when a boiler ignited has left several residents there without a home temporarily.
Crews were called to Fox Ridge Apartments and learned that the boiler fire had spread to insulation in the attic. They were able to get it out and prevent extensive damage to most of the apartments. Residents were not required to evacuate immediately, but since the boiler had major damage, there will be no heat available.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist residents with shelter until utilities can be restored. There were no reported injuries to either residents or firefighters.
