KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s office is warning residents about a scam.
Someone is posing as a representative of a financial institution, even spoofing their caller ID and telling victims that their account has been compromised.
The scammer asks for the numbers off their card and their pin number so they can erase the charges.
They then take those numbers and clone your card and then go out and spend hundreds if not thousands from your account.
Sheriff Richard Fuller says never ever give those numbers out to strangers on the phone.
Authorities have obtained surveillance photos of at least one of the individuals who has been using some of the counterfeit cards and are hoping to identify more.
