HASTINGS (WKZO AM/FM) — A father and his young son were killed in a Barry County crash this weekend.
Deputies say their vehicle went off Charlton Park Road in Hastings Township and struck a tree Saturday just before 7 p.m.
Michigan State Police have identified the victims as 55-year-old Steven Joseph Kennedy and 12-year-old Joseph Steven Kennedy, both from Hastings.
The exact reason why the father lost control of the vehicle is unknown but deputies have ruled out drugs or alcohol as contributing factors.
They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
