PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Calhoun County Deputies used both high tech and old school tracking techniques to locate and arrest a suspected car thief this weekend.
Deputies responded to a complaint that a man had jumped into another man’s vehicle and sped off from a Convenience store on North Avenue in Pennfield Township early Saturday morning.
The victim told police that he had left his cell phone in the vehicle, and police were able to use an app on the phone to track the vehicle to Arbor Point Townhomes in Battle Creek.
From there they brought in a tracking dog, who led them to a specific apartment.
They arrested the 22-year-old they found inside, and booked him into the Calhoun County Jail for unlawfully driving away an automobile.
