KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A woman who has been living in a Kalamazoo church for three years can now leave without the looming threat of deportation.
65-year-old Saheeda Nadeem, who is from Pakistan, came to the United States legally but then overstayed her visa. In 2018, facing deportation under the Trump administration’s immigration policies, she was offered sanctuary by First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo. Recently, she learned she will be allowed to stay in the U.S.. She spoke with WOOD-TV, thanking the Biden administration for their efforts to help her.

Nadeem said she is excited to get back to work in the community that she loves.
