GOBLES (WKZO AM/FM) — Troy Taylor has been sentenced for shooting his former best friend to death after the victim, Tim Henley of Kalamazoo began dating his estranged wife.
Taylor, of Bloomingdale, had driven over to her house in Gobles to pick-up their two kids last June when an argument erupted.
Taylor and the kids were in the car when witnesses testified that Henley walked up to the driver’s side window and punched through the glass.
Taylor grabbed a gun and fatally wounded Henley.
Taylor argued it was self-defense at his trial, the jury couldn’t reach a verdict, and after a mistrial was declared, Taylor agreed to plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
Monday, the judge gave him 7 to 15 years in prison with 8 months credit for time served, which was part of the plea deal.
