KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — K-9 Bach had a busy and productive weekend tracking down bad guys for the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
His first track involved sniffing out a man wanted on a number of outstanding warrants who was driving recklessly around the north side, cutting through some yards on Drexel and Princeton, and allegedly causing an injury accident at Douglas and North when he ran a red light.
The K-9 led his handler to a spot near some trash cans on Forbes Street, where the suspect was hiding.
The man turned out to be wanted on a number of outstanding warrants. They also found a handgun in his wrecked vehicle.
At about 5 a.m. Sunday, K-9 Bach was back in the same neighborhood after two men, including a wanted fugitive fled on foot after they abandoned their car in a parking lot.
They were first were spotted near Cobb and Elizabeth and fled from officers. The 23-year-old driver was caught right away.
The 19-year-old suspect, from Kalamazoo was tracked to his hiding spot in the residential neighborhood and arrested without incident.
He is also wanted on a number of outstanding warrants.
