KALAMAZOO (WZKO AM/FM) — A child is lucky to be alive after a close call shooting in Kalamazoo’s Northside Neighborhood.
Public Safety officers were dispatched to the area of West North Street and Douglas Avenue around 10 p.m. Tuesday and found a man in a parking lot who said his vehicle was struck by gunfire.
The man’s 12-year-old grandchild was in the vehicle during the incident and the bullet hole was found less than a foot from the child, but nobody was injured.
A K-9 track was launched and evidence was collected at the scene, but the suspect was not located.
Witnesses say the shooter was an average build black man, wearing a black hoodie and a black baseball cap.
