KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Friday night there will be a very special performance of “Madagascar Jr.” at the Civic Theatre in Kalamazoo, and not all of the performers will be on stage.
Abby Tongue, who is working toward degrees at WMU to become an instructor for people who are visually impaired, will be providing an audio description live as the performance is taking place, to fill in the blanks for people who cannot see what is happening on stage.
She will be watching a monitor of the performance from backstage. There will be ear buds for those who can’t see sitting in the audience.
She will provide the running commentary for Friday night’s play and a future production of “War Paint” in early May.
