KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Monday we reported on efforts to improve security at Kalamazoo Public Schools after parental concerns were expressed at last week’s School Board Meeting.
This week it’s been announced that the District has just received a $442,000 grant from the Michigan State Police to further upgrade security systems.
They plan to spend the money improving communications systems, replacing radios, adding loudspeakers to the exterior of the school buildings, replacing Public Address and Paging systems.
This would be in addition to money the district has already spent on additional school safety officers, a thousand security cameras in hallways and school buses, hardening entrances and active shooter and other professional development training.
