PORTER TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Authorities have released the name of the Van Buren County man who was found dead in the driver’s seat of his SUV on the bottom of Cedar Lake Tuesday afternoon.
They are still investigating to determine why 59-year-old John Salvatore Catalino of Lawton went out of control along M-40 and went into the lake.
A witness says by the time the SUV hit the water, it was traveling backwards, and slowly sank about 20-yards out.
Lawton Fire Personnel were able to bring Catalino to shore before the County Dive Team arrived.
He was dead at the scene.
They want to determine if a health issue resulted in the car going out of control and into the water, or whether the crash into the water led to the Catalino’s death.
